belt replacement for "65" 70hp Johnson

The next step is repairing the mouse damage to my motor. I'm not very good with outboards, but figured out that when the little belt was chewed in half that would be bad. It is a 1965 johnson 75hp electric start. belt appears to be a timing belt? connects the distrubter to the motor under the pull start. Does all the stuff on top of the motor have to come off? and is there any thing special to watch out for? It's a 4 banger and sorry about my spelling. thanks for all your help....,mike

Recoil starter has to come off, and the tin cover on the distributor. As I remember it, the flywheel does not have to come off. You have to align the timing marks when putting the belt on the pulley.

Is this belt a 305446 b4n1 avail. anywhere or a special order? Napa? they usally have what i need. any Idea what the nut size is on the top of flywheel? looks to be a 1 3/8 it's bigger than I have. thanks....,mike

Why is nothing ever easy for me on the computer, I can't seem to find this belt anywhere including on the many parts sites. I've even looked up Johnson dealers in the wisconsin state and get nothing? Are they no longer johnsons? Did someone buy them out? Either way what is this belt called? I get no hits when i search belts in any of the parts places including this one. what gives? thanks...,mike
