96 200 EFI Poppet Valve?

I am curious to see whether or not my motor has a poppet valve? I have read similar threads about temp alarms and the poppet valve seems to be the fix. I have ordered a new water pump and thermostat but can't seem to find a poppet valve. Does my motor have one?

Also, if my steering seems to be a little stiff what can be done to try and loosen it up? Should I buy a new steering system (rack and pinion) or can I find a way to lube up the cable?

Thanks in advance for helping a neophyte,

I would suspect that it does. Look for figure "8" (laying down) on the lower right side of the block. There will be a single water hose leading to it.

I am not into cable steering systems, I have hydraulic on my boat.
