Thought I'd post some good news...
We've been keeping a tight rein on the budget thees last few years. For about the last year we've been living on my income alone. Meanwhile, she's been working on her Masters so she can be a teacher. We've been doing well enough that we can still go out and have a steak once in a while and I'm not drinking cheap beer but it's still been tough.
Last week it all came together:
Tuesday:
My wife was offered a teaching job at a private school. It's about 20 minutes from our house and not much traffic headed in that direction. It'll be a good environment for a 1st year teacher as there will be less dicipline problems and more teaching going on. She's already got her keys to the classroom. She's only got 2 classes left to take and she's done. She's maintained a 4.0 gpa through her masters studies. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to bed and she was still up studying when I got up to go to work. I'm very proud of her and what's she's accomplished.
Friday:
I was offered the System Administrator's position at a local health care facility. It's only 5 minutes from my house. Hours are M-TH 8:00-5:00 and F 8:00-4:00. It's a significant improvement in work environment, salary, benefits, and vacation time. I'm working a month's notice in my current job. My boss hates to see me go but says he's happy for me. I've always been a hard worker, but I feel very fortunate for someone who doesn't have a college education.
I took delivery of a 2007 Nissan TITAN LE Crew Cab, Galaxy Black. It's the nicest vehicle I've ever owned bar none. My wife loves it too and is very happy for me. I'm still pinching myself.
