I acquired a 1973 bayliner. The floor was rotted underneath the passenger seat. So I removed that section. Then I removed the cabin bulkheads to further inspect the floor. underneath the stringers have rot too. Most of the rot is on the board in front of the fuel tank. The board goes left to right. It appears just to be attached at the hull sides and stapled into the stringers that run next to the fuel tank. It does not touch the hull on the bottom. My guess is to allow water to run back. I have to remove the floor on the other side. So I can replace the whole piece. The floor is glassed about 4 inches from the hull side.
When I cut the right side floor out should leave some of the edge of the old floor since its solid?
The port side was wet and popped right out from the fiberglass. I was going to just slide a new piece in and glass over the old remaining glass. Should I put any epoxy in the cavity?
