Now that I fixed my tilt issue, I can finally attempt to start this beast. I bought this boat (85 Bayliner Ciera 2252) with knowledge of the following:
The boat was last in the water 2 years ago. The prior owner went to start it last year and the alternator was seized. He ordered a new alternator, but was sent a single wire instead of a 3 wire. Everything I've read said that's fine, just cap off the 2 unused wires. After replacing the alternator, the boat wouldn't start, he seemed to think it was weak spark.... When I picked up the boat, the purple wire going to the coil was disconnected, as show in the picture.
Where should this wire go? It was my understanding that it should go to a small post on the starter (slave) solenoid. The only small post on this solenoid acuates the starter, and if you hook the wire to it, the starter continues to run. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
