They are definately not for eating......around he they are bow hunted (not in the air) and then used more or less as fertilzer.

I'm a bit curious to learn why is it that carp are not good to eat?
My understanding is that carp is raised and very much prized in parts of Asia as a food source.

I have always heard that in order to eat carp the water has to be of high quality. I know a lot of people who hunt them and know none who eat them. In North America and Europe they are a "Garbage" fish, around here they are a nuisance and very invasive. Carp tend to have small bones and fish that live in muddy waters can acquire a muddy flavor.

I've eaten them on a number of occasions - but we have a clean lake. And I like to keep them alive in a tank and change the water frequently for a few days - to get the mud out. Then cut the "mud line" or the dark fatty tissue out of the side of them and they are good to go. Nice BBQ'ed

While trout fishing at Price lake in NC, we came across this, I believe it was Scandinavian, couple. They asked what we were catching, and we showed them our stringer of trout (yes, we actually had some on the stringer. I know, new concept for us:D:D) They seemed confused that all we had were trout. They asked if there were carp in the lake, and we said there probably is, but nobody cares about them. They seemed to think we were the goofiest people they had ever met, and they scoffed at us and walked on down the trail.
