hello all, i have a 87 125 force outboard with 2 wire motor. the tilt moves the motor up about 3 inches and stops. No leaks. then very very slowly clicks down. Sound familiar? motor seems to spin fine. I unscrewed the filler cap and fluid poured out. So im assuming its full. Am i allowed to manualy lift the motor and block it up for the bleeding process or testing? any ideas would be great thanks.

Re: Another quick tilt/trim question

i took a closer look just now and notice the trim goes the whole distance and im assuming the longer cylinder is the tilt that doesnt do anything after the trim is all the way up. in fact i can lift the motor right up without any pressure?? that cylinder seems to move up and down.

Re: Another quick tilt/trim question

Before you replace the tilt cylinder, check the relief valve inside the pump. You may have a stuck or missing ball check valve ot the relief itself may be set too low. Get a Clymers. They give a quite detailed description on troubleshooting trim and tilt functions.
