I am receiving an overspeed alarm on my port motor around 4000 rpm. If I quickly accellerate past 4000, it will beep for a moment, the overspeed warning will flash up on the smartcraft gauge, but then go away. But, if I keep the throttle at 4000, it will keep beeping (with the warning displayed) and eventually go into guardian and not allow me to maintain speed...

Brought it to the dealer and apparently none of the errors or the guardian mode have been saved on the motor (they can't see any of them with the DDT).

Anyone have any ideas???

Hey Ed I havent checked this site for ages ,then today I search for overspeed warning and find you have exactly the same problem as I do, I mean exactly ! I have a 2004 90 hp saltwater series optimax with 50 hrs on the clock .
I have not had mine diagnosed with the ddt yet, my mechanic says it is most likely a bad connection but I cant find anything
I too hope someone can shed some light on this as it is frustrating me somewhat
Good luck Graeme
