how do I get rid of "wri exe" file on my computer

My friend has a trojan(not the one who is buying the Mac) on their PC. The file is "WRI EXE" and I cannot seem to find any definite answers on how to get rid of it off their computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you google wri.exe you will get dozens of results concerning the removal of this trojan.

We could not get rid of the file....my friend had to take it back where she bought it from.

OK..you posted that you couldn't find any definite answers so I assumed that you hadn't tried anything yet.

Some of the Trojans are very pesky and the only perfect way of getting rid of them is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the system.

Hey Bruce,
Yeah, we tried a few things, but to no avail.
She took the computer back to where she bought it (Future Shop I believe)...turns out all of the stuff they installed on her computer was all pirated stuff. They reformatted the computer....all is good now. Thanks for tips though.

If they loaded it up with pirated stuff, then advise her not to go to Micrsoft for updates, in all probability, it will happen again. I have a son-in-law, whose dad built him a computer and did the same thing, then when he checked for udates, OPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Same type of problems.

gss036 are you saying that microsoft gave someone a virus? I know they get infected just like we do, but the way you said that is like they did it with intent,,,if you can prove that then there is recourse

My bet is they got some applications off warez or file sharing sites. You are asking for virus and trojan attacks if you install applications form those sites. Just pay for it...you will be better off in the long run.
