Well I am now filling two Hummingbird feeders every two days . . . There are swarms in my backyard. They harass me while I take the 30 seconds to rehang the feeders. They start at the crack of dawn and go until it's completely dark. Nobody mentioned that we would become intimately involved in the fate of multiple species, of multiple colored, little hovering maniacs  We love it!!!! :D

Yea, I love the hummers we get here.
Sit here and look out my window and watch them all day.

Here's a picture of a female Anna's hummer that frequents my feeder.

Well I tried to get a pic of a mini-swarm or something and the best I could do was three at the feeder. Cruddy pic as I thought the flash would freeze them. That blob to the right is one . . . I was in a hurry cause I'm runnin' the boat this weekend :D , Parker Strip at Oh Dark Thirty (still better than humming birds)

We get hummingbirds daily in our backyard as well.No feeders though. They feed off of the numerous cape honeysuckle blooms, ixora blooms, greggii salvia, and even lantana blooms. No swarms of hummers or anything like what may be drawn to feeders, but a nice balance with the other many types of birds.Saw a couple of bumblebee hummers last year feeding on the small lantana blooms, but not yet this year.

"My" swarm has not returned. I have maybe a half dozen hanging around but the big swarm disappeared after a series of strong storms back in late April.

I posted about it and the consensus seemed to be that the unusually heavy bloom of wild flowers had lured them away. I sure hope that is what really happened. Maybe when the hot, dry days of midsummer are here they will return.

Sure miss them. :(

Or maybe they're off hanging out with the bees...
