4000 is too low.......
Why not try the same size as your present chewed up prop?......:)

Dude, what they are trying to say is that evaluating WOT RPM with a bad prop is eh, uh, stu, eh, no . . . wrong. Has it ever run higher WOT RPM with a good prop? What's the pitch of the raspy one? There shoud be a 17 or 19 or 21 or something like that on the hub as you look at it from behind the boat. Maybe from the side . . . Take a look at some WOT threads on the Prop forum vvvvvv. The only way to properly evaluate for a proper prop is with the engine, hull, trim and load as they should be. If you plan on doing some more tearing up, then stick with Aluminum, three or four blades and get the yucky one fixed for a spare . . .

Re: 4.3 WOT 4,000rpm to low?

I just got the boat, and as i remmember correctly i was getting i little more RPM's out of it the first time i took it out, But it was shifting bad. I adjusted the shift cable. After that i noticed i was getting less rpm's out of it. I guess i should start with making sure the throttle cable is adjusted properly also. The prop isn't all that bad, just looking to get a better one.It had good top speed before od about 47mph, but it was sluggish comming out of the water, and i'm going to be promarily pulling a skiier. I have to sheck the numbers and get back to you guys.

Thanks!

Is there a problem with your keyboard? or is your spelling just that bad?
You should be aiming for a WOT of 4400 to 4800RPM with a good prop and the stern drive correctly trimmed.:)

eh, uh, stu, eh, no . . . wrong. Seen this happen to several posts Gary.
What it means is this.
"It's like trying to get top speed out of your car on 4 flat tires....... when you know they are flat to start with."
I think the new forum software changes it somehow if you don't put " " around it. :p ;)
