My parents live about 2 miles away from this. I live about 5 miles away as the crow flies.

As a teenager, this road was the start of a short road coarse I would traverse late at night at umm... not so smart speeds.

Over the railroad tracks, left at the T, hard right at the T, then hard left at the T, accelerate through the large dip (dips about 20 ft), then hard on the brakes for the long sweeping right hander.

Young and stupid, I was lucky something like this didnt happen to me.

My son will be going to the junior high next year where some of the dead went. I'll be sure he reads this story.

What one child would never try alone more than likely fell into the mob mentality as a group.......:(

No one knows who stole the car or if all the kids knew it was stolen.

I dont think darwin awards apply here. Like I said, if not for luck, many times in my younger years I could have recieved a darwin award.

Tragic but avoidable !!
Articles like this will hopefully make others learn and avoid a similar situation and outcome.

Really hate to hear that for the families.

We had a police officer at our neighborhood meeting on Tuesday; he gave us the statistics for auto theft, dramatic jump that coincides with summer break from school........imagine that!

The real freakin shame is the two boys who hatched the whole stupid idea managed to survive the crash, while the somewhat innocents died. This should be a real strong lesson to all parents to ALWAYs pay attention to who your children's friends are and who they idolize.
