Back fire problems

[1984winner]

Hello, I have a 1984 winner escsape 19 foot with a 470 mercrusier and a problem with the engine. It ran great in the yard with fresh water hook up, but when I took it out to test it on the lake it started to go fine and as I throttled up it started to back fire and shut down. the engine turned fine but took a few times to get it started again. When it started it idoled good. The timing is ok unless Im not checking it the right way. can someone help me get it going . thanks...........

Ayuh,........ My 1st Guess would be Fuel Starvation,.........

The issue might be Anywhere in the Fuel System, from the fuel in the Tank, to the Combustion Chamber,.......

I'd Start with all the Fuel Filters 1st,..... It's pretty Cheap,+ Easy............
