hello all. i am new to the boating thing. i just got a 1974 glastron 18' swinger tri hull.

the boat has a pretty healthy merc 115hp motor with power tilt and trim.

my question concerns where and how i am supposed to refill the tilt oil. is there some kind of reservoir? i looked and couldn't find a fill location. the tilt went down fine but didn't want to come up. i am assuming that i just need fluid.

thanks for any feedback you are willing to offer.. thanks

That motor should have a tilt pump and control valve installed in the boat. The fill is an aluminum straight slot screw on the right top of the resvoir. Use 5W-30 motor oil to top it off. The pump motor spins one way to trim up and the other way to trim down. There is a single trim solenoid on the pump assembly for the the up direction. If the motor will not run in the up direction, check the solenoid for power and proper operation.
