I am working on afriends 60 hp. It keeps blowing the small inline fuse next to the starter solenoid. What causes this to blow??? I can't find any short and cranks with a new fuse, but blows quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Check all the wiring for any bare wires, check all the guages for any wires or wire terminals touching. Something is shorting to ground to blow that fuse.

Since it blows when attempting to START the engine, I'd check the solenoid wires, engine harness, engine-to-control box harness, and the ignition switch wiring. If it were the gauge wiring, the fuse would blow when the key was simply turned to the ON position.

Thanks for all the help. I used the wiring diagram and found all kinds of rotten wires. Looks like a project!
