Good morning,

First of all I would like to thank all of you out here helping everyone! I have quite a few questions about my newly purchased boat & motor. Here is the start to many questions.
I am trying to get information on my motor, I will give you all the information that I have on it.
Manufacture: Sea King
HP: 15
Mod# VWB 52122
Serial # 58X 1387
Year: 80's ???

I do know that Montgomery Ward had a few companies make them but which ones I don't know.
I am also in need of some parts that are missing, but it does not interfere with it running. First one is the pull-start assembly (I have been starting it with the rope on the flywheel).
I will stop with this for now until I get more information to go on. Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: 15HP Sea King

Yours is a 1985, made by US Marine. I'm not sure what that means, exactly, but I believe it's the same as the Chrysler and Force models. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. US Marine made both Chrysler and Force brands, along with the private label brands from Wards after 1984.

Parts are tough, I'm afraid. Your best bet for the recoil may be tcoutboard.com, although you might be able to find a NOS recoil unit somewhere.

Re: 15HP Sea King

Hello, Im Sorry to barge into this thread but I am a new user here and I have registered and logged in and stilll cannot seam to post anything of my own. I have trouble with an old Sea King as well.

I just bought this model #VWB 52115a, which in my recent research I have found it to be a 1976 15 Hp Montgmery ward sea king. Even though the guy
I bought it from had it listed as a 9.9 Hp motor. He also had it listed as "runs great". And it did when I picked it up from him. Starts great, idles great, and revs up great. However, now i have it home, and it dies in gear at high r's. Can you tell me what are some possible symptoms of this. It seams to miss and then just idles down to a stall if i give it full throttle. at half throttle in gear runs ok.

Any Help greatly appreciated.
