elgin 7.5 hp

i would like to clean the carb and fuel line for a elgin 7.5 hp i just bought, does anybody know how i can go about doing this. elgin site is down for the moment.

Which Elgin 7.5? One of them is a royal pain in the hindmost parts to do anything with. The early green ones are easy.

it's from 1951 model 571.58751 serial 751.25372 - 2 stroke - also can i use just regular oil or should i use lawnmower oil as someone recommended??

That's the "easy" one to work on. Made by West Bend (which later became Chrysler). I understand laingsoutboards.com still has some parts. Use TC-W3 outboard oil.

sorry commander but i don't have a manual, is there anywhere i can go which will show me where the carb and line is that i need to clean out??

started her up today, noticed that where the carb is the little glass bulb was leaking gas, also the water it was in had oil/gas mixture in it. the motor runs but when put in low it turns off, when put in fast it runs great. it started in about four pulls. i quess i will be taking it to someone the can make it run right without the gas leak where the carb is.
