The choke is part of my ignition switch, when I push the choke in, it is not engaging the choke mechanism in the engine. Where should I start, new ignition switch or the linkage?

get your volt meter out and see if you are getting power to the primer unit. if not back track, if so suspect primer. it is a primer, rather than a choke. choke on older engines, are butterflies, that close to cut off air flow. the primer lets additional fuel into the intake.

I am getting power to the soleniod, I hear the clicking sound when I turn the key and push in the ignition. It does start initially, but after running it for a while (20 - 30 minutes), and then trying to restart, even if warm, it is difficult to start and I manually adjust the throttle on the engine to get it to turn over. Sounds like the primer Not sure how to address the primer.

when the engine is warm, you should not use the primer, if you are you are flooding the engine making it hard to start. just turn the key and it should start. you also have a fast idle feature on your control. have you read the owners manual? you should not have to touch the engine.

typically, all I need to do is just turn the key without the choke, but is does not turn over. I have had the boat for three years, and never had this problem. I do know how to fast idle once it turns over. But I have never tried to start it with the it in the fast idle position. I will need to double check the manual. I change the plugs last night just in case they were fouled.

are saying the engine and starter don't turn? or the engine does not start. lets get that cleared up first. cold starting procedure. pump bulb till hard, fast idle all the way up, turn key to on, press key in for an 8 count, release, turn key to start, then may have to bump key it keep it running until it settles, then lower the fast idle lever.

warm start, turn key, if not start, raise fast idle, turn key.

The Engine does not turn over, not the starter. Thank for your starting instructions. Very helpful
