Battery Drain

I have a 2002 Mercury outboard 75 ELPT that has a 22ma continuous battery drain. I have isolated all the electrical on the boat except for the engine and I still have the drain. I have even unplugged the 3 modular plugs into the "black box" on the engine and I STILL have the 22ma drain! There are only two power leads from the positive terminal on the battery, one for the instrument cluster & accessories and the other is for the engine. Disconnecting the instrument cluster lead changes nothing.

Any ideas? I can't think of anything else on the motor that would draw such a small amperage and would be on continuously. Help!

Re: Battery Drain

Do you have a radio in the boat? If you do, the station memory is fed a constant +12V to retain the stations you have selected. It would pull about that amount of current.

Re: Battery Drain

Disconnect the red wires from the voltage regulator on the engine and see if it goes away.

Re: Battery Drain

For heavens sake don't run the engine with that wire disconnected.
