I have a 1988 60hp evinrude. The problem that I'm having is, I'm not getting the right mixture of oil to gas. I have a tank that holds the oil and is pumped to the gas and is mixed. What I am finding out is, the motor would run great until the oil overtakes the crab's and kill's the motor. I then would blow out all the oil, restart and it would run fine for 2 to 3 min. before the oil over take the gas and floods the crab's. My question is, is there anyway of controling the amount of oil that is being pumped from that tank to the carb's to get the right oil and gas mixture. I looked everywhere, and I can't fine any type of adjustments, or can I just remove the the oil tank altogether, and just hand mix the fuel.

See, there's your problem right there. Remove the crabs from your motor, they're supposed to stay in the water.

Okay, in all seriousness, how are you determining that you've got too much oil in the mix? Sounds more like a basic fuel flooding issue to me.

When you say you have a tank that holds the oil is it a VRO system or one of those portable tanks that has the oil and gas in seperate areas of the one tank ??
