Orange Nasty Water in Bilge

Hello all,

I have a 98 stingray 190LX with a 4.3L V6.

I just had my boat fixed for milky oil. I was lucky (I think), and it seems to have only needed new head gaskets, intake gaskets, exhaust manifolds etc. No cracked block. Oil still looks like honey after running it all weekend!

However, I just went to check things out and I noticed that the little bit of water that I have sloshing around in my bilge is orange and nasty. There is barely enough in the bilge to pump out, but I turned on the bilge and the dirty water that was pumped caused the oil\gas swirls to show on the surface of the lake, but it didn't look the orange coming out just dirty.

Is this an obvious symptom of something serious, or nothing to be concerned about?

Any information provided is much appreciated

Thanks

It could be, if the bellows is leaking, it could be causing the ujoints and gimbal bearing to rust, and it WILL leak into the bilge. Water will also get into the outdrive and push gear lube out and into the bellows.
Have you pulled the drive lately?, or hear any grumbling noises from the back of the engine??
Look around the transom shield for a rusty streak before things get real bad.

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

I just got a hold of my mechanic that put my motor back together, and he told me to keep an eye on it along with my power steering fluid levels.

He said he greased up the gimbal bearing pretty good, but recommended it be replaced soon.

That is next on my priority list, Gimbal Bearing replacement.

Hopefully this orange stuff in the bilge of something else that needs immediate attention.

Eventually I should be good to go for a while.

I to think you have some left over nasty's. I would wash it out and like said before, "keep a eye on it".

Yep; outdrive oil; engine oil; ps fluid; and cleaners all smell different.
