Problems installing new throttle

I have a Merc Cruiser 94' Alpha engine and the throttle had gone bad. I tried replacing the throttle but my new side throttle is installed a little differently and now my old cables don't allow me to adjust them at the engine level enough so that the one controlling the acceleration is way too high in idle mode. My control cables are teleflex control cables 600A model.

I'm hoping that someone might have some suggestions on how to "extend" the end of one of the cables. I'm not even sure how replacing my cab;es would help since, I should just run into the same problem. I believe the biggest difference between my new throttle and old throttle is that the "spread" between where the cable attaches in the throttle mount is pulled out much more than before. This really goes for both cables.

Help? Suggestions?

on top of your engine... there is an adjustment for your lower shift cable...like running thread... or threaded rod... that's how I adjusted mine when it started to go click, click, click. 7 thread lengths did it 4 me

Usually on the aftermarket Controllers there's a couple of different settings you can use,......
If there's Only the setting you're using on your New 1,.......
You got the Wrong 1..........

No amount of Cable Adjusting is going to give you More Travel,...
If the Controller Isn't capable of providing the Required Travel.........

You've either got the Wrong Controller, or you've set it up Wrong.................

Re: Problems installing new throttle

Thanks Bond-o. Either one of those I guess are possible. I'm heading down to the boat this morning to see if you can adjust it at the controller side, because there is literally nothing I can do at the engine side. Since I don't have it in front of me, do you know if you can adjust at both ends? From my recollection installing it yesterday it did seem like you could. I adjusted as much as I could on the engine side.
