i was told it was a 57 but im not sure if thats correct now i found a model number 35516-23974..does anyone know what this is horsepower as well if possible
Don't think you can figure this out by the serial number. But on the same plate that you got the serial number, there should be a model number. Probably 4 digits. Take that number to this website and you should be able to figure it out.
i got the number on a piece behind my flywheel on the top of the motor that was the only number i dont know where else to look. the motor was rebuilt and i havent seen anything yet!
Could you get a picture up? Pics help us help you. Is it red or blue? Is it the original paint? I could go on all day... Well morning. Does it look like this or like this. Those are 2 different links. and this is the whole 57 jonny 'rude old-omc page. If at all possible take it the hard route and try to weigh it. I know its sounds stupid, but it may help in the hunt for what your motor is.
Actually, it is very simple. 35516 is the model number and 23974 is the serial number. So, knowing that, a 35516 is a 1959 35hp. That is the Golden Aniversary model with a squarish-looking fiberglass hood, right?
yea thats it golden jubilee it sais on the hood! i did happen to look up the 35516 number and i got a 59 35hp so the guy was a little off. and from what im getting from others is that is a good motor? i bought a 15ft reinell and it had it on it for 400 bucks and she started up next day with a change of gas. impeller seems to be pumpin out plenty of water but sometimes when at lower idles it has a little bit to much vibration almost like a kick at times but when opened up all the way and then slowly let off its smooth an suggestions. i cleaned the plugs which are new and sprayed some fogging oil in it to take out the moisture..also could be runnin a little rich and im not sure how to adjust. as far as the color it was completely restored and is like a chrome silver color of new parts! lark i believe?thanks again guys
