Hi I am new to the forum, and have not had a lot of time to do a search on similar problems, but I thought I would ask the experts here.
Question is: Was boating last weekend and the water is very low and the outboard hit bottom and not the tilt does go up or down. Have replaced the relays and still nothing.
1990 Bayliner capri 1800 with a Force 120 o/b.
Any answers will help greatly, my daughter really wants to be pulled on the tube and I need to be a hero this weekend. Thanks in advance.

Re: Hit bottom & now tilt & trim not working

could have created an oil leak (often around band collar) -
and now the system doesn't go because it is out of fluid.
top it off and system should go up but spew fluid on the down.

could have blown out pressure release needle valve -
and now the fluid goes in circles inside of pump
nothing will work until you have the pump rebuilt or put in new release plugs (P/N F17620, 2 req'd). Given the year of your motor it is time for pump rebuild and new seals on trim motor. Even if you hadn't hit bottom you would probably be needing it soon anyway.

Hey man, you should have a small breaker box mounted on the inside of the
motor, you have to remove the top cowl from the engine. I did the same thing with mine about a year ago and thought I broke it until I found the breaker a week later (it's a little black box with 2 wires attached to it and on one side a little pin pops out when the breaker trips). On my motor (Force 150hp) its on the left side and it has an orange decal on the top of
it. Hope this helps.
