My wife cannot ride in a car without telling whoever is driving what to do, when to do it, etc. She is, bar none, the worst back seat driver in the world. I have long thought this, though she would deny it.

She claimed she seldom, if ever made comments about my driving.

I, of course, claimed the opposite. Now I have proof.

The other day we were headed for the mall and my daughter piped up, "Daddy, before you married Mommy, who told you how to drive?"

Boy kids can speak the truth......

In a similar manner, my mother nags my father about his driving. He's recently retired after 45 years and I happened to overhear one of his comebacks to her directions. And I quote "I'm amazed I was able to get back and forth from work for 45 years with no accidents or tickets.." It shut her up for a few minutes anyway. LOL.

I've been messing with my wife for years. When ever she makes a left, if there is a car within 20 miles, I act like she cut it off. :)

My wife has this habit of asking me if there are any cars coming when she is turning right onto a main road (it would be the same as a left turn for those here who drive on the wrong side of the road).

I answer with "your O/K my way" then wait till she's half way through the turn and add "if your quick"

If he would have done that to me he would have died on the tracks sans a train, as one wouldn't have been necessary!

Re: Back Seat Driver

I further added to my fathers humor against my mom's backseat driving when I found The Jetta Official Backseat Driver?s Manual insert in a magazine I bought. The guide then goes on to inform us that ?Being a backseat driver is not a right. It?s a privilege. And a responsibility.? It not only resembles an official looking manual, but also includes a quiz and an official backseat drivers license at the end(complete with a spot to affix your own photo). The following link shows scans of the actual pages.

The really cool part was the actual backseat drivers license. I was able to crop a picture of my mother onto the license and we presented it to her on her birthday. I ceremoniously declared she was now "Official".

My wife just hangs on for dear life sometimes. Other times she is grabbing the dash and acting like she is putting on the air brakes by going sheeeehhhh. Other than that she doesn't tell me how to drive. Just like in our boat, she is always glad to get her feet back on the ground.:D

LF is always telling me how to drive. I drive fast and she cannot go past a speed limit sign without reading it to me.

What I hate the most is to be cruising along and all of a sudden she yells "COP!". Scares the crap out of me and it's usually a car similar to a patrol car going the other way.
