I am in the process of restoring my '57 Alumacraft "Open C". Can a chemical used for cleaning aluminum cooling coils be used to remove oxidation from an aluminum hull. My son gave me some and I tried it on an inconspicous spot and the results blew my socks off. Oxidation and corrosion gone in five minutes nice shine too. My boat is no stranger to salt water. The boat has always been used in the Chesapeake Bay or Patuxent River in MD since it was new and there is some light pitting on the upper hull. The bottom is still smooth and will clean up nice. The product label says it can be used on aluminum trailers, pontoons and other outdoor products. I have read a bunch of threads using rubbing compounds, vinegar, Aluminum Jelly etc. I have tried all of this stuff and to get good results it's lots of elbow grease. This coil cleaner seems to good to be true and you know what is said about that...
