Buying a used motor can be risky business. Found a nice Triumph CC with a 2005 175 HPDI motor hanging off the back; really wanted a 4 stroke. I have gone through many threads addressing these HPDI motors and find most of the concerns are with the earlier 200+ HP versions. Fuel filtration and strict aherance to maintenance will be no problem as I'm anal about that stuff. I am new to this and request some advice about what I should concentrate my efforts on when evaluating the status of this motor's health. It has 150 hrs on it. Thanks in advance

That engine will serve you fine, then....use ringree, yamalube or equiv.(very few choices there), and reg. maint. and it'll outlast you and me....

Make sure the fuel filter between the low pressure pump and the high pressure system has been changed. I just had one bring me to my knees. I thought it had been changed in earlier maintenance, but it hadn't, and it provided entirely too many strange clues, with no reference on the laptop. It's expensive ($106) but it's worse paying some poor dumb SOB to try to track down weirdness!

Thank you both for the response. The entire package is a lot of money. Grid, I will definitely follow-up on your advice.
