I have tried just about every idea with this motor and I'm looking for some help. Here is the problem. I can start the motor just fine. It will idle a little rough when I put the motor in gear and advance the throttle she will run for about 10 minutes. If I try to go full throttle she will run only for a couple seconds. Here are the things I have done. Replaced the gan can and gas, replaced the fuel pump, rebuilt the carb (taking note to clean the high pressure jet), checked the coils for spark by starting the motor and removing the plugs one at a time (that was good), replaced the plugs and wires. Like I said I'm all out of idea's and any help would be great.

THANK YOU,
Jay

Have you checked the compression. Also have you checked to see how strong of a spark you have, you don't say the year of the motor but it should probably be able to jump at least 7/16" with hot blue spark.

No I have not checked the compression. It did not seem to be a compression problem to me, but I am new to outboards. I will be retesting the spark with proper spark tester tonight (going to the local auto parts store to get one).

I'd go peel apart that carb again. Make sure to remove and clean the high speed jets and soak the carb. Also pay special attention to the float settings. Sounds like maybe your float is off.

did the compression check and both are at 130. Also did the spark check and I have a nice bright blue arc. I will try pullling the carb again and checking the float setting. Thanks for the help.
