Hello everyone, I own a evinrude 115 ocean pro and just had a complete rebuild and even a crankshaft replaced, Ive waited 2 months to get back in the water, but the last 2 times ive been out i had issues with the timeing and fuel delivery, im afraid to take it back to the guy cause now its not going over 2500 rpms and sound like its got an over rev protection issue like my street bike when i hold the throttle, i cant get but 15 miles an hour before it starts going wa,wa,wa,wa,wa,wa,. Has any one heard this before? The engine sonds good for 10 min but then it dose that and if i shut it down for a miniute its good till a no wake zone. please help i would appreciate any advice

How do you know its a timing issue. How do you know you have a fuel delivery issue. Does the warning horn chirp when you turn on the key? Feel the engine when it acts up. If you can't hold your finger on the head for more than 10 or 15 seconds its too HOT. It has gone into SLOW mode (rev limited) to keep you from burning it down.

Sure sounds like an overheating issue with the motor going into "slow mode" If that is the case then your motor has saved you a lot of money !!!!

is it peeing a strong stream constantly, this is just an indicator, that the impeller is pumping. it is NOT and indicator that the thermostats are opening and cooling the engine.

"wa,wa,wa,wa,wa,wa" - is that the engine or the horn?

Thanks for the feed back, the first time that i had it out it wouldnt run at all as if my mech didnt run it, just put it together and called me up to take it home, and i took his word for it that its safe to go fishin, i didnt even un hitch before it went back. This time I had the family out after the previouse night of a 2 hour idle and a 2 hour 10 mile an hour cruise down the canal to break it in. it started to run in slow mode in over two hours of cruisin and now that ive been told that even though the engine is peeing great, the thermos can be the prob , I'm glad that I found you guys for advice.

How tough is it to replace a thermostst?

If you have the parts, some gasket sealing compound, a socket set and perhaps a rubber mallet to free up the old gasket, easy. GL Dont forget to get a new gasket, and add some locktite to the screws.
