1997 30 HP Johnson shutting down

When ever we out and we speed up to max speed, we go fo 100 yards are so and then it shuts down or dies down. We can crank it up just as soon as it stops. We also can let off the trottle and and sometimes go slower. Have change out water pump and really lost at this point. Really need help....ASAP

compression, ignition, fuel, one of these is lacking, check all three.

you likely have some kind of fuel restriction,check hoses,filters ,fuel tank vent because if air cant get in fast,fuel cant get out fast,any fitting that are on a built in tank,orings on any quick connect hose fittings

Thanks very much for you thoughts on this. We notice when we had cover off and running it at full trottle that the fuel would stop entering. Could this be a fuel pump problem. I heard that if the mixture was not right or to much oil , it would tend to heat up and shut down.Also I noticed that the fuel line is exceptional long..like about 6-7 feet from tank to motor, it is curled up....
