Sanded with 200 grit/wet and got down to a yellow color. From here do I wet sand with the continuing upper level sand paper and remove the yellow or do I buff with a good compound? I feel like I have not removed enough but I need some advise. Thanks.

Is yellow part of the color scheme? Did you sand down and the sanding residue turn yellow?

If you started with a white hull and are down to that color you have propably removed your gel coat and now are into the first layer of laminating resin. 200# wet paper is way to aggresive to use as a polishing media. Use nothing but 800 to 1000# to start - finish with 1500#. There is no compound that I know that will effectively remove 200# sanding marks. Looks like you might be in for a paint job. Give us an answer to firex question - I could be all wrong, hopefully.

Re: Hull Sanding

I used marinetex to cover some scratches and sanded to a yellow tan color. All the dust and water was clear after removing the white. I am planning on painting the bottom hull with interlux. I started wet sanding another part of the white hull and came to the yellow color again. I am wondering if this was the original color?? or not?? or did I go too far??? I do not think so but could be.

If there's no yellow in the color scheme on your boat, then it may have been repainted at some, or if it's a newer boat, it might be a barrier coat behind the gel coat, some are sort of yellow in color.
