Johnson Model Number?

My motor is missing the name plate with the model/serial number on it. I hear that it might be possible to tell what size/year it is from the number on the silver plug on the top of the engine but I don't know how to cross-reference. The number is 1325823. I believe that it is around a mid to late 50s 25 hp.

Please help if possible.

Thanks

They only made the 25's from '51 to '55. Go to this site and try to link it up by picture: old-omc.de

Your motor is a 1955. Just a note of trivia: The one millionth Johnson was made in 1953 and was a 10hp.

FR, how'd you get that from the serial number?

Peter Hunn's "The Old Outboard Book" has a list of serial numbers. But it only goes up to 2,249,094 (1961)

That's a great book. The serial number is the only way to date some motors. Like your JW-10, samo.

Thanks for your help. I couldn't figure out how to use the old-omc.de site. Maybe I typed it in wrong. I couldn't find anything there. I'll take your word for it that it is a 1955 25 hp. Now, how do I get a list of part numbers for it?

You have to click on the big photo on the mainpage and then navigated by decade/year at the top left of the next page.

I have a parts manual for a 1954 Evinrude 25 hp that I can email you. It is essentially the same motor. All the important stuff is the same. PM me an email address and I'll send it to you.
