had the boat stored for a month after having a local dealer fix the frozen steering. dropped the boat in over the weekend and found out that the steering is backwards i.e. steer left the boat goes right, etc.
My guess would be that the cable is routed wrong through the helm and needs to be switched.
I looked at the helm and it is an ultraflex T71FC (Rototech I). There is no cotter pin holding the cable in place like you see on some other helms like Teleflex.
My question is - what do I need to do to get the cable released from the helm so I can re-route it through the helm correctly? Undo the screws that are close to the hole where the cable enters the helm? Thanks for your help!!

wouldn't it be easier to just turn the steering wheel around?

take it back to the one who screw up, and didn't even check it. you paid for it to be right. not to have to fix, their screw up. you could have done that good on your own.

I suppose i should have started the thread with "suppose I don't want to hitch the boat up and drop it at the dealer's again....."
