I am having trouble removing the starter and bracket from a 20 hp 11989 Evinrude OB motor. I disconnected everything on the solenoid and all the bracket bolts. I am still having problems removing the bracket - it won't budge. Any help would be appreciated.

you also need to remove the screws that hold the 'bracket' for the throttle arm.
did you remove the bolt nut on the front of the bracket, that is next to the carburetor?

I did remove the screws and the front piece of the bracket for the throttle arm and I did remove the bolt nut on the front bracket next to the carburator. I did not mention that in my original post.

There is a bolt on the back side of the starter bracket, if you shine a flashlight back there you can see it. You can access it with a 1/4" drive socket wrench, using a long extention with a 7/16" swivel socket.
Good Luck!!!
