I have heard the stories of the Merc oil injection system failing on the outboards. Has this happened to anyone and, any way to prevent it.

Re: Merc 90 Oil Injection

I have it on my 90 and can not think of a reason to take it off.
From all the post I have read the most of them use it .
We are kind of new to boating and rely on this forum for a lot of info.

Re: Merc 90 Oil Injection

From what I have gathered it depends on the age of the motor and the type of injection system. At one time Mercury used a system with a remote oil tank (not mounted under the cowling) and these were prone to failure. I have not heard of problems with the sytem with the engine mounted tank. I know there are people on the boards with a lot more experience than I who can give you an answer based on the year of your motor etc.
