Well, after searching for DAYS for either a new long block, short block, cylinder head or just a used engine I've found SOMETHING.

I'll be picking up a low hours shortblock either this weekend or next. I just kept thinking, "If I just put a new/rebuilt head on the current block, its gonna blow up and destroy the head anyway". I'm still on the hunt for a 3.0 head with large ports and valves, but I've got a few leads.

I just want to use this boat a few times in whats left of the season. Of course, as hot as it has been, we may be boating until Christmas this year... LOL

Puzzled as to how you couldn't find a 4 banger...there are currently several on ebay, and they are always some there.

One word: AFFORDABILITY

$1000 for an engine that MAY or MAY NOT run very well isn't that enticing to me. Especially after buying the boat with the motor the way it was.
