Interchangeability

I have a Mercruiser 233 with a Ford 351. It needs to be replaced. I know of a couple of decent Alpha 1 drives that are available that were hooked up with Chevy 305's.

How compatible are these outdrives? What would I need to do to swap these outdrives with mine?

What needs to be replaced? The Ford 351? Or the outdrive only? Both?

If you're switching the 351 for a 305, I believe you'll have bellhousing bolt pattern issues.

Just the outdrive needs to be replaced. The engine is in superb condition.
