1968 johnson 55

Have johnson 55hp runs great for about 5 min, then dies eventually starts but if you back off the throttle it dies. changed fuel punp and hoses. Tank is portable kind. any help would be appreciated.

dirty carb, check you spark when it dies, could be coil going out.

does not seem to be the carbs as it responds well at first, idles good and runs well on muffs put it on the lake and run full out for 2-3 min starts to miss and then I back off the throttle and she dies. How would it be the coil?
