Relatively newby here with a question.
I just purchased the new style water pump for my 70 model 60 hp evinrude and it doesn't look anything like my old one.
My seloc (not sure of the spelling) manual mentions the new style and compares the mating surface only. My old one doesn't look like the picture of the old one either.
My water pump has two tubes on top and a long one coresponding to one of the top ones that goes through into the lower unit about three inches.
My new waterpump seems to omit the run through water is this right?
I'm not sure what to do at this point as it is Labor day weekend and all dealers are closed and I wanted to get out on the lake again.

Any ideas?

Thanks Nathan

Don't know which pump you have, but this is what it should look like...

Re: 70 evinrude 60 hp water pump question

That is my waterpump but is not what my seloc manual shows.
I believe that I have a type V lower end, and the manual only shows a single water line on top.
So the part GLM # 12244 replaces # 438579
is not the correct Number for my motor?
I have even checked other online parts places that go back that far and this appears to be the right number.
Should I jus tuse the impeller and go with the old housing?

Thanks Nathan

as long as the new impeller fits into the old housing and the old housing is in good shape, i don't see a problem. the new impellers blade will be bent a little when properly installed.

OK if I use the impeller with the old housing, according to the parts breakdown above there is no gasket either between the base plate and the lower unit mating surface or the pump housing right.

I show your pump kit as part number 383682. 438579 fits a 1974-1978 70 and 75 HP motor. The impellers are the same, so the one you have should work...
