"Sight glass" replacement?

Hi folks - I have another question:

In the accident I had with my boat, the "sight glass" broke - this was a little bowl with a cover attached to the side of the fuel pump that provided somewhere for gas to go if the pump failed.

There was a little sign inside that said "If you see gas in here, replace your fuel pump".

I can't find a replacement anywhere.. anyone know where I could pick one up?

They show up on ebay now & then....;)
& I would look through spme of the salvage stores there......
If you know your pump is in good condition, you could plug it till you find one......
It tells you if your diaphragm is ruptured........

Ayuh,..........

Unscrew the thing,+ Throw it Away,...........

Then install a Threaded Nipple,+ a Clear Tube up to the Flame Arrester.......

That's how Merc did it......

Still Perfectly Safe,......... Call it an Update....................;)

The end is just pointed at the flame arrester fins like a crankcase vent tube? Or inserted through the sheet metal?

There should be a nipple on the carb, probably capped. Run the line to it, so any leakage from the pump gets sucked in by engine vacuum. It will run rough and foul plugs, but it doesn't go boom.

Okay, will do. Cheap and easy :)

The current mount for it is hung off the side of the fuel pump, it kind of looks like a fuel/water separator mount, except it had a glass bowl hung below.

I need to replace mine - the line is old and cloudy. However: Napa and Advance don't have any clear(ish) fuel lines in the size needed. (At least not in stock). Can I use something from a hardware store?

Thanks,

Yup, Hit the plumbing section for some clear tubing of the correct diameter.
