i dont think its running on 4 cyclinders i have a 1990 legand sprint 1200 (not a heavy boat) with this 115 and the fastest i can go is about 35mph (i have put a new prop on it)with 2 people in the boat i weight about 165lbs and my girlfrind weighs about 120 so i dont think theres a weight issue i have moved the pin on the motor to change the angle of the motor and this is as fast as it will go. i bought a owners manual but it really doesnt answer the questions i have. so i dont think something is right i have allready put a new iginion box on it so i know thats not the prob. new plugs wires and distuburer will the stator give some fits on maximum performance. i know its weak but it still charges the battery. does anyone know what my boat should run. and do you think its time to do a rebuild. i cant afford to buy a newer motor but i would really like one so i figure i just try to make do with what i have if anyone has any input i would appreat it. i rebuilt the 2 carbs pretty simple no air fuel settings they are pre set so it was a no brainer on do it i used to be a auto mecanic for over 10 years so i do know how to work on engines. i guess what i want to know do you guys think the boat should go faster. and i would some input on what i should do with this motor.

start with the basics check the spark with a spark tester, and the compression, and post the results back, owners manual, or OEM service manual? we had a 69 115 on a heavier boat, ran 42-45.

compression is good. if the spark will jump atleast 3/8 inch, when were the carbs, last cleaned and rebuilt, including removing the high speed jet and cleaning it., and a link n sinc done.

What is the max rpm at WOT? And where is the cavitation plate relative to the bottom of the hull?

You may just have a set up problem.

Post your results.
