Well after an afternoon of catching about a foot of air on the dirbike, I went for another jump and it go away from me. Either the throttle stuck, or my landing caused the throttle to turn cause I accelerated and lost control.

First I am POed cause there was no video camera. :D

Second, my foot started to hurt and by the time I got home, I couldnt walk on it. Doc says no broken bones or other other stuff, just a severe bruising.

It freaking hurts and it makes you realize just how dependant we are on our limbs.

I would like to thank my helmet for protecting my face that got driven into the ground and my gloves for saving my hands. Handle bars hit me in the chest but it is only minor bruising. Next time I will have the chest protector and boots on.

Next two weeks, crutches!!

Ouch! May it be your last. Every rider goes down.... some harder than others.

A "bruising" is a non-event from a bike wreck. They can REALLY hurt you. Glad you aren't in the ICU. Take care.

I jumped my bike once a long time a go. Got good air but just as i peeked in
the air a deer ran under me. It scared me to death. I thought for shure i was going to land on it. Lucky it out of the way before i came down. All i could think of was this was going to hurt bad.

Back in the 70's, I came off a jump in a wooded dirtbike playgrond (not a foot, more like 20 feet), and (74 CR 250)...slammed the ground HARD...maxed out the suspension, motocross boot tip caught a stump, and felt like I kicked myself in the back of the helmet with the heel...didn't walk for a month. 47 years riding now, and still looking for a dumb move...price of having fun...(jezz, I skied all year one year in the 80's, and broke my ankle walking down a driveway..high heel type break/edge thing...on the way to the awards banquet..(still laughing, as all my friends probably, on that move):D

Re: My first significant injury

An old timer once told me that the bike has a mind of its own any you are never the boss of the bike. I never had any serious injuries, but lots of bumps and bruises. My wife let me get a 125 dirt bike to use the engine on a go cart. To make sure that it was going to be good, of course I had to ride the bike to see if it was a suitable motor. As I came up over the hill in the back yard catching air, she happened to look out the window. Yep, that was the last time I ever was on a bike. Her beating was worse than what that bike could have done.

Before that bike, I had a 250 I used to ride around town for small trips. In one day, I had to lay the bike down twice because of stupid drivers not looking for a bike. I love bikes, but I know I'm guarnteed not to get killed on one if I don't ride one. Just too much traffic around here anymore for it to be fun.

Glad your okay KIZ, lick those wounds and you'll be back at it.

Re: My first significant injury

i never injured myself bad enough for a hospital visit on the dirt. that being said my street bike wants to kill me first was a drunk driver leaving a bar pulled out in front of me, swerved to miss her wound up in the gravel sliding under the bike . 3 hours later came to inthe woods .
second was a deer on a back road ran out in front of me and the windshield opened my forhead up like a tin can 147 stitches later and the bike is sitting in the shed covered in dust.

glad yer ok kenimpzoom. my injury on a bike almost left me w/o opposeing motion of my right thumb. i'm right handed and use small motor movements for my job. i've ridin once since. just to get back on the horse. i've givin up bikes in favor of boats...... their dangererous, but i don't think as much so......water is usually softer than the ground.....anyways. get well soon......

So far the worse thing that's happened to me from riding dirt bikes is a bad case of chiggers earlier in the summer. I'm glad all you got was bruised.

I can't count the number of times I've seen people riding in shorts or shorts/tanktop for the ladies at 70+ down the highway. I cringe when I think about the roadrash if they were to go down. My parents always leather up regardless of conditions and I will do the same once I buy another bike. My wife and I went bike shopping and then found out she's expecting so that got put on hold for awhile.

Anyways, protection is your friend in a bike wreck on the pavement or in the dirt.

You got that right. I wear full armored gear every time I ride, from head to ankle (I cant find boots that fit me right....still looking.)

Re: My first significant injury

I am quite proud to have injured my foot doing something stupid at age 36, rather than sit around doing nothing playing it safe. :D

Bruising is starting to show, in the perfect shape of a foot peg on one side, and a rock on the other.

Pain is a lot less now, but still cant put any weight on it.

I know that feeling.

Much like the famous quote ""My life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved package, but rather I will skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'WOW...What a Ride!'"

I am much the same. At age 32, I am looking to upgrade the suspension on my ATV to finally be able to catch enough air to do tricks. My largest obstacle is permission from the Mrs.

I'm 36 & still playing (wife says I never made it past 17). Sold my ZX6R (ninja) last fall, Was into roadracing, now there's a rush:)
Got my 4 wheeler that I get stupid on now, sprained my wrist in the spring on it.

Why travel through life all safe & secure like, just to wind up at deaths door in the end anyway:D
