i have a yamaha 40hp electric four stroke boat motor i don't know what year and what is the right tourt(lbs) for the spark plugs the number off the engine are

L
405049
40ELK what does this all mean ? sorry i am just learning
and what oil do i put in the boat engine any 4 stroke ?

i would like to purchase a maintence book also not having any luck

If i'm reading correct you are looking for the correct torque for installing spark plugs?

Not many people install spark plugs with a torque wrench, they come with a crush washer on them so you just get them snug and make another 1/4 to 1/2 turn.

40ELK is the model number of your motor. It is a 1985 40hp engine. I always torque the spark plugs. I believe the torque in your engine is 14 lbs. It should be found in the owners manual.

cant be, at least not in the US. if its a four stroke the model will start with F.
its an F40 with only 3 alpha characters its going to be later than 05.
where are you posting from and most important what market was the engine built for ?

sorry , you are right its not a four stroke engine , the oil( 2 stroke) go in a small holdong tank on top of the motor then is mixed as it runs .. out board ,built for fishing
