I purchased a 1994 Regal Ventura 9.8. It is a great boat if i dont look at the problems i have had in the last month. Let's just say over 15,000 so for in repairs. I took the boat out finally and the thing would not get on plane. When i purchased the boat it had 4 bladed props. When the boat was taken out of the water to replace the engines, it had 3 bladed props. The 4 bladed props were put away in the cabin. none of the 4 props have any numbers. Does anyone know someone that has this boat and can tell me what props i should be using? I really dont dont want to be trying differernt props, too much money spent already.

It's not going to be that easy. Need a whole lot more information.
gear ratio in those alpha drives
boat weight w/usual load
current WOT rpm and speed
current prop #'s

A general rule for most smallcraft, prop size for an alpha is 14 X 19 then test on the water to see what the WOT rpm and speed are, then reprop up or down in pitch to adjust WOT rpm.

Who ran the boat before with the 4 blades and how did it perform?

What engine improvments have been made and what is the measured improvement?

You really need to take one of each prop into a prop shop and have then inspected/measured. I.D.'d

Wow. You spend 15 grand on repairs, but a couple hundred on getting the props right is just too much huh?
