Want to install Bimini top on my '03 Glastron, sx-195

Hello folks, I just bought this boat (it is now in storage though) and was wondering if it is easy to install a bimini top. I could order one online for maybe 300.00 but then I would have to put it on or have the dealer do it for 475.00.
Is it an easy task to drill and install? Thinking about it for next season.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Paul !

It is easy if you can use a drill & screwdrive. Just measure where it goes, drill the holes for the bracket & fasten with screws.

i highly recommend using a sliding track for the mount. this way when the top is not in use, it can be slid back out of the way. it also also some adjustment in the angle of the bimini. this is an example as this top when stored with fixed brackets, the top would be hanging out the stern of the boat.

there are 2 types of sliding brackets, deck mount, mounts on the top of the deck, side mount, on the side of the gunnel.

Thanks for the input, I will look into a sliding mount. I am still curious about the positioning of the top. Is it pretty straight forward as to where it gets positioned? That's my only concern since the boat has no markings where one should go and there is none around that I could look at to use as a guide.
Should I make sure all the fittings are stainless or consider nylon?

Welcome Paul.

Positioning of the top is up to you. If you can get a couple of friends to help, you can open the top and have them hold in different positions. When you find one you like, just put a mark on the hull and install your brackets there.

Also, it is worth spending the money on the SS hardware. It will last the life of the boat.
