I had my 225 hooked up to the water hose flushing it out and noticed water blowing out both sides from where the lower unit bolts up
I assume there is not a gasket or a seal between the two so what would keep it from leaking? what do I need to look for?
thanks

There is not a gasket made for that as far as i have heard.I think some people put sealant there.I put mine together dry.It does seep water but i figured no big deal. From what i have learned here on the forums its normal.
Maybe one of the Johnny-Rude pros will chime in on this subject.

I dont put any sealer there either. Minimal water leakage is normal, how much are you talking about? Remember, by the time the cooling water reaches that point, it is spent and has already done its job.

you didn't put model number, to indicate year of your motor.
you also didn't mention if this motor is new to you. Nor if this
situation just started, or has it been there?

Because there are some lower units, which have a space where the lower unit mates to the mid section. the bolt lands stick up just a little leaving a small gap between the lower and midsection.

when you hook up the flushette, you can get water coming out from this area

this means that you may not have a proble.
