Anyone got a funny or strange story about fishing on a pier. Once I was using the pier cleaning station to clean a few red snapper and trigger fish I had caught in the gulf stream eary that day and these tourist types asked me if I had caught them from the pier. I said "OH yes off of the very end" As they walked away this local gave me a funny look and and "I know you didnt catch those D-### fish off of this pier." I said well they asked a stupid question and I gave them a stupid answer." I was tryin to clean my fish not put on a side show.gez

I was bridge fishing on a bridge in St Pete years ago. had a blast...I was catching fish everytime the line got wet. Well that grew the attention of the seagulls and the local pelicans around, and I began to have the attention of every bird in the area.

The bridge itself was a good 20 ft above water,and a small congregation of pelicans gathered under the bridge just waiting for the fish to break water....AS soon as the fish was out of the water it was a mad dash to see who could get the fish first,me reel up 20' of line or the pelicans swooping under the bridge at my fish. I did pretty good with the next 10 or so fish, then one pelican beat me and swooped in mid air and grabbed the fish, next thing I know my pole bends in half,I grab the end of my rod for fear of it breaking the end of the pole, and im swinging the pole up and down, with what seemed like a 40# pelican hanging off my line.... He ended up growing tired of hanging around and eventually let go,I reeled in the fish the rest of the way, and threw it back in the water...Figure it was already traumatized enough for sitting in the pelicans flaps for so long.... So went fishing and caught a bird.

I was just a kid and fishing off of a pier in a camp ground on what's now my favorite lake to fish on. Keep in mind I didn't have a fishing rod back then so I had a sturdy stick and a line tied to it. One of my cousins that was swimming near by took a fish out of the basket hanging off of the pier and hooked a 4 pound bass to my make shift pole. It wasn't until about three months ago that I realized that I didn't catch the fish, my aunt (the mother of the cousin who did the deed) told me the truth. That happened about 20 years ago.

Then my uncle (father of the cousin who did the sneaky deed) walked right off of the end of the pier one time while talking to somebody on shore. It was funny as all get out. He took a long walk off of a short pier.

i was fishing around this 60 acre pond thats around here. I was walking around the pond through the woods trying to get all the way around the pond. I got to a little pier that was in the back of someone's house so it was a private pier but there was noone there so i started fishing around it. There was thick pads and crud all over the place around there so i tied on a scum frog. I threw it over the crud and worked it back a couple of times and it looked like i was getting a small hit in the same spot each cast. So i kept casting and retrieving over that same spot. Well about the 5th or 6th time or so there was an explosion and the frog was gone. I thought i had a nice bass hooked so i reeled through the scum. When it got closer i looked and it was a Bullfrog that ate my scumfrog! I mean a huge bullfrog. I think its funny that a frog ate my frog and i landed it. I had to use plyers to free it but i was able to free him without hurting him too much. He was slimy. Thats about the wildest thing ive seen whyle freshwater fishing. becides people falling out of boats and i saw a guy one time putting a live flounder into a freshwater pond. He was a dumbass if he thought it would live!

A lot of people who ask questions here are danged glad our helpers don't have that attitude, Fairlane. I don't find it at all funny.
