Anybody here have one? I'm talkin' about at work, not at home. How's it work for you? I find myself in a situation with a new one since my former (male) boss move on "to explore other career opportunities". This is the third time this has happened in the 36 years that I've worked there, but the first time she knows more about my job than I do. Thoughts?

Re: Female Boss?

I have had a female boss when I was in the sales field, auditing field, and production field (well I helped her out she wasn't really my boss in production unless she was subbing at times I was a lead man). Everyone of them seemed to be very nice, but I'm sure they had there moments though as we can also have. Really don't recall having any problems out of any of them. I also need to mention that I was a hard worker and they would brag on me and that is one of the reasons I didn't have a problem out of them.

I work for a small company where my female boss IS the female owner as well. She is plenty easy to get along with and I enjoy working for her. But she is one of those people you do not want to be on her bad side, she will crush you!

I've had several and I'll say they are just like men but more to the point. If a guy is mad at you he'll usually get over it. If a chick is mad its time to transfer cuz she ain't gonna get off your back for nothing. The oppisite is true also. Is she likes you (as an employee) then she'll go to he11 for you.

Male - female, it makes no difference. If they're good it's a pleasure to work for them and if they're bad it sux.

I have worked with a female supervisor for about 11 yrs now.....she runs a tight ship, but is very fair, pleasant, unless you make her mad, has been in the business 20+ years, knows what she is doing, is not a yes man (PERSON) to upper managemant, goes to bat for us if we are right......and she is very attractive! I do believe it is the person...not the gender.

Re: Female Boss?

I've had two female bosses over the years.

The first was the wife of a big wig in the company, she was the Quality Supervisor and did not even know how to read a micrometer. She did the quality reports, attendance, vacation requests and other non QC paperwork. She was brought into the job straight from the Subway shop down the street where Mr. Big Shot met her.

The second was a normal boss, gender had nothing to do with her getting the job.

Re: Female Boss?

The problem isn't the female boss, as I've had one, the problem is when you go to a pool party at your female bosses house and find out she has a daughter, beautiful daughter, who likes you! That day in the pool was quite nice!

Some jobs have their perks! :D

Female boss isn't so bad for real. I have had male bosses that were something else to be around, I dreaded going to work because of them. LOL WITF

I have one. She's over 60 and she's the "queen" of this place. She likes me and appreciates the work I do. She does however maintain a **** list. I've been told that once you're on it you never get off so I am very cautious of that.

My boss fired me last oh late april.Took some time went down to Tennessee visited Kellys family for a week.Came back got a bunch of things done been needing to do.Went camping for memorial week:DBrought the girls home went back up for another five days and fished with dad. Then in june she called and asked if i would please come back?I said yes but there has to be some changes on bothsides.Well we compromised on some issues.Been getting along pretty good since. We all get stressed out and take it out on others men or women.I dont know how many here know what it takes to run a kitchen? But it is a handfull at times easy to get stressed out and get onry.

Re: Female Boss?

First real job I had boss was a woman and she was great. Second job a woman boss took over and she was pure evil. My supervisor had to tell her to close her door when talking on the phone cause she would cuss like a sailor.

Currently my manager is a woman and she is great.

My last boss was a man and he was terrible.

In other words, woman/man makes do difference.

My sister has had trouble with women bosses saying they are tougher because they think they have to be. That is how my second job boss was.

Re: Female Boss?

I'm an RN and most of my bosses have been female. I would guess about 70% have been diffucult to work for/with. I've been the boss several times as well and have not had a lot of problems with the female nurses. I've been told I'm a great boss and I've been told otherwise.

Over-all, I would have to say it's the person and not the gender. Along with that I would have to add that in my profession, it pulls a lot of disfunctional (co-dependant) women into it, so the percentage of bad bossed would be a little high.

I've had several-no issues.

Treat them with respect, just as you would anyone else, and there are no issues, IMHO.

Can you elaborate a bit more? Someone I care for a lot is about to engage in a relationship with a nurse.
