1972ish prealpha id #s ?

I've looked all over both prealpha outdrives for #s removed paint in all the places i've seen people "say" the #s are no luck. Does anyone know where the #s are suppose to be? thanks

2 different drives. both 1 drives. both port side. a 1975 on the mercruiser sticker, + a 1972 under the mercriser sticker stamped into upper houseing......

Thankyou Ziggy, My stickers are gone and it's kinda pitted in that area i'll use some paint stripper and see if it's readable. Appreciate the response !:)

There wasn't awhole lot of changes in those drives,although there were a few,.........
The lack of a Serial # isn't the end of the world,....
As parts can be bought without it.......

You were right Ziggy i found the #s thanks. I guess they are C drives? the #s are C 2462278 the other is C 2566358

not sure of the year but the biggest change is the number of splines on the lower driveshaft. coarse(early ,late(fine).they are not interchangeable
