I need to repair or replace the deck in my1991 Galaxy 1800v. Any tips on what the best way to go about it? loks to me like the orig deck was placed in the hull before they put the top half of the boat on therefore making it impossible to replace the whole floor with out taking the top half off again. Can i cut out the rotted parts and section them back in? What kind of plywood is the best to use? Do I need to put a sealant on the deck if I use Pressure treated ply? As you can tell this is my first project of this type, any additional info will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Galaxy 1800v deck

I'd cut the trouble area's and track them to see how far they run, if they are small enough or at least where you can get to them you can patch them. Frame around the under side of the opening so that the new plywood you use will have something to rest on so that it will be solid. You may find that once you start cutting you may be able to work the peices along the edges out! I'd do all I could to keep from taking the top off while still doing the job as correct as possible! This is your first project so taking on something that indepth is a bit over whelming and it rarely goes back together as easy as it comes off!

Be sure that when cutting your careful not to cut thru the bottom of the boat! Good Luck!

Thats is kinda what I was thinking. I was reading other threads in this forum on using PT ply wood. Do you have to dry it? If so, how long , how much does it shrink?
